Panel 18 Jul 2023

This panel will provide diverse perspectives into the potential of machine learning to be applied to existing power system protection and control methods. Each panelist will provide insight into how machine learning could enhance, or enable in some cases, protection, and control methods to drive system reliability, security, safety, sensitivity, and resiliency. The panelists will share case studies, best practices, and considerations that must be taken before embarking on a journey to augment existing protection and control schemes with machine learning. Presentations in this panel session: - Does it work? ñ Testing challenges of practical AI/ML applications for power system protection and control (23PESGM0746) - Utilizing Machine Learning for a More Reliable Protection of Distribution Systems (23PESGM4183)
